VOICETHREAD

In week 9 we are experimenting with Voicethread.  This is a tool that allows a discussion on a specific topic to take place among a group of people.  Voicethread allows you to take part in the conversation via video, audio, typing, phone or upload.   It has a similar application to Google Docs slideshow but it differs in the platform used to make comments.

I like the idea that everyone can participate in the way they feel most comfortable.  People who may not feel comfortable on video or speaking into a microphone can use the option of typing.  I think it is important to consider everyone's level of comfort while working in an online group setting.

 I think this tool will fit into my PLE under collaboration.  It is a useful tool when working with a group on projects.  Once you share the conversation, everyone just signs in with their login and password and can join in the conversation.  You can view everyone's identity along the side of the screen and their comments pop up next to them.

I think Voicethread could also be a useful tool for expanded your PLN.  If you are connecting with people of similar interests or backgrounds, it may be useful to brainstorm ideas with them using a
Voicethread.
